"I'm still out there as much as I was then, now more focusing on the government aspect of my job and the neighborhood aspect of rebuilding communities."
--- Mayor Luke Ravenstahl on how he spends his days.
Considering "government" IS his job, what other "aspect" could there be?

If Peduto was still in the race, the Mayor would be campaigning (part of his job) at cocktail parties, Pirates games, the auto show, the Pittsburgh Wine Festival and Tiger Woods' private party.
Now that Peduto has dropped out, the Mayor is focusing on the government aspect of his job at cocktail parties, Pirates games, the auto show, the Pittsburgh Wine Festival and Tiger Woods' private party.
Sad as the whole Peduto thing is .... Peduto's mere presence and willingness to have his ideas and positions regularly "stolen" are the only things keeping this city "moving forward." Whether its potholes, Downtown tax abatements or whatever, Luke's gonna let Peduto do the work, then swoop in for the photo op. Bill knows this and, for the good of Pittsburgh, he's going along with his perverse part in this wacky Pittsburgh drama.
I know everyone's pissed at Peduto for pulling out .... but bless him for being the bigger man. And as for Bill staying in the race... it unfortunately wouldn't have made any real difference. Luke was going to win hands down anyway. The Boy Wonder's poll numbers were so high, O'Connor himself may have had a tough time beating him. Yea, we would have gotten a measure of vicarious pleasure in seeing someone take the kid on. But that's about it. I hate to have to say it, but it appears the vast majority of the folks in this town want a Young Prince to rule, not a measured adult with good ideas and a real commitment to this city.
We have met the enemy and it is us.
Woody Allen once wrote "More than at any other time in history, mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness. The other, to total extinction. Let us pray we have the wisdom to choose correctly."
We'll see, in '09, whether Bill had the wisdom to choose correctly.
Nice paraphrase of the Pogo line (which in turn was a paraphrase of Caeser's line).
